IOCRA Site Visit Results

The IOCRA site visit was held at 3 PM on Thursday, February 10, at the River Hills office.

Steve Fouts, representing the Water Corp, and Ron Repp, representing the Sewer District, attended along with our respective engineers and River Hills.  Matthew Crouch represented the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

In the last round there were 44 applicants and 14 requests were funded.  Of the remainder, 24 have filed notice of intent to resubmit in the next round.  Each proposal is scored by a team at IOCRA.  The maximum points you can receive is 750.  The lowest score funded in the last round was 499.99.  Our proposal scored 442.5.  Scoring is not the only basis for a funding decision, so unfunded proposals may have scored higher than 500 but been disqualified on other basis.

Mr. Crouch told us about changes to the process and submittal requirements and discussed ways in which our proposal could be strengthened to achieve a higher score based on review comments.  We plan to resubmit in the next round.  Very little additional work is required.  We will, however, need to hold another public hearing, which has been scheduled for March 9 at 6 PM at the Water Corporation offices.

Community support is a factor which is considered when these grants are awarded. We request you show up at the meeting, sign the registration, and make any comments you feel are appropriate.  You are also invited to send a letter of support for inclusion with our grant request package.  Letters of support may be mailed to Washington Township Water Corp, 108 N. Poplar, New Washington, IN 47162.   You may also bring them to the public hearing on March 9.

Thank you for your support
